President Prabowo Watches Indonesia-Bahrain Match, Supports National Team for World Cup

President Prabowo Subianto watched the match between the Indonesian national football team and Bahrain in 2026 World Cup Qualifiers for the Asian zone on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. The President’s presence at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium, Jakarta was greeted enthusiastically by supporters of the national team.
This match is one of the crucial matches for the Garuda squad to qualify for the next round. The support from the President and supporters at the GBK boosted the motivation of the players to show their best performance.
In the match, the Indonesian national team took the lead 1-0 over Bahrain through a single goal scored by Ole Romeny in the first half. Several golden opportunities were coming during the match to take lead over Bahrain. However, these opportunities were not executed well by the Garuda squad.
After the match, President Prabowo went down to the field to congratulate the Indonesian national team directly. Afterwards, from the sideline, he joined the crowd to sing the song ‘Tanah Airku’ which was played at the GBK Main Stadium.
The match between Indonesia and Bahrain tonight took place in an atmosphere full of enthusiasm with tens of thousands of supporters at the GBK. All eyes were on the Garuda squad on the field, hoping that they would make a new history on their struggle to the 2026 World Cup.
Also accompanying the President, watching the match were the Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and several ministers of the ‘Red and White’ Cabinet.
