President Prabowo Welcomed by PM Takaichi at Akasaka Palace

Presiden Republik Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto bertemu dengan Perdana Menteri Jepang, Sanae Takaichi, dalam rangkaian kunjungan resmi di Istana Akasaka, Tokyo, pada Selasa, 31 Maret 2026.

President Prabowo Subianto meets with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo, Tuesday (03/31).

As part of his working visit to Japan, President Prabowo Subianto met with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at Akasaka Palace in the Japanese capital of Tokyo.

Upon arrival at the palace, PM Takaichi welcomed President Prabowo, then the two leaders had a joint photo session before heading to Hagoromo-no-ma, where an official welcoming ceremony took place.

At the Hagoromo-no-ma room, all official delegates from the two countries had lined up to welcome the two leaders. Afterward, PM Takaichi let President Prabowo head to the podium that had been prepared.

The ceremony continued with the playing of the national anthems of the two countries, followed by an inspection of the guard of honor. Afterward, the two leaders paid respect to the national flags of both countries.

Following the welcoming ceremony, President Prabowo and his Japanese counterpart introduced their respective delegates, then they all headed to the Asahi-no-ma room for a bilateral meeting.

During the bilateral meeting, PM Takaichi gave welcoming remarks to President Prabowo and the Indonesian delegates.

“Excellency President Prabowo Subianto  and all delegates from the Republic of Indonesia, welcome to Japan. I am very pleased to meet with Your Excellency again,” she said.

President Prabowo also expressed appreciation for the remarks and conveyed his experience meeting with the Emperor of Japan.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the warm welcome from Your Excellency, from the Government of Japan. I was also received very well by His Majesty the Emperor,” he said.

Concluding the event, the two leaders were slated to deliver a joint press statement at the Sairan-no-ma room before attending an official luncheon. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/AW)
