President Prabowo Welcomes Cambodian Senate President, Highlights Regional Peace and Cooperation

President Prabowo Subianto held a bilateral meeting with President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, during his official visit to the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta on Monday (05/05).
In his opening address, President Prabowo extended his respect for the Senate President’s visit to Indonesia.
“It is an honor for me, on behalf of myself and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, to welcome Your Excellency. I am pleased to meet Your Excellency again since our last meeting in Phnom Penh in September 2024, before I was inaugurated as the President of the Republic of Indonesia,” President Prabowo said.
President Prabowo also expressed his highest appreciation for the Senate President’s strategic role in the SEA region.
He also welcomed President Hun Sen’s upcoming opportunity to share his views on the peace process in Cambodia and his role in SEA at an academic and regional forum in Jakarta.
“I am delighted and welcome Your Excellency’s plan to share your insights on the peace process in Cambodia and your role in ASEAN, which will be presented at the School of Government and the ASEAN Secretariat,” he said.
The Head of State also expressed belief that the Senate President’s contributions and perspectives will add value in promoting peace and prosperity in the region.
“I am confident that Your Excellency’s views will enrich our collective efforts to maintain peace, stability, and shared prosperity in SEA,” he added.
On Indonesia’s historical commitment to regional peace, President Prabowo Subianto underscored that Indonesia will continue to uphold the principles of dialogue and reconciliation, while emphasizing that Indonesia will consistently prioritize peaceful conflict resolution in all circumstances.
“As a long supporter of peace in Cambodia throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Indonesia’s commitment remains steadfast. We will continue to prioritize dialogue, reconciliation, and conflict resolution in all situations, advocating for peaceful solutions,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/EP)
