President Prabowo Welcomes President Macron for State Visit to Magelang Military Academy

President Prabowo Subianto arrived at Yogyakarta International Airport in Kulon Progo, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Thursday (5/29), as part of his working visit with the President of the Republic of France, Emmanuel Macron. His arrival was welcomed by the Deputy Governor of Yogyakarta KGPAA Paku Alam X, Regional Military IV/Diponegoro Commander Major General Deddy Suryadi, Yogyakarta Police Chief Inspector Police General Anggoro Sukartono, Commander in Chief of Adisutjipto Airforce Base Marsma TNI Toto Ginanto, and Commander in Chief of Yogyakarta Naval Base Marine Colonel Hafied Indrawan.
Upon arrival, President Prabowo was scheduled to welcome President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron, who visited Yogyakarta as part of their state visit to Indonesia.
The two leaders and the first lady will then head to the Magelang Military Academy (Akmil) by helicopter. At Akmil, President Prabowo and President Macron will visit the academy’s facilities, have dialogue with the cadets, and have a luncheon together.
This activity is part of Indonesia and France’s commitment to strengthening cooperation in the defense sector, especially in human resource capacity building. In a joint press statement the day before at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, President Prabowo emphasized the importance of such collaboration.
“I also invite President Macron to see our education and training system at Akmil tomorrow, and we will continue our defense cooperation, which includes increasing the capacity of our human resources,” President Prabowo said, Wednesday (5/28).
From Akmil, President Prabowo and President Macron will continue their trip to Borobudur Temple, as part of a cultural visit that marks the close bilateral relations between the two countries. President Macron’s visit to Indonesia is expected to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and France that has been established in various sectors.
Accompanying President Prabowo on the flight to Yogyakarta were Didit Hediprasetyo, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat) (TCUD/TM)
