President Prabowo Witnesses Ombudsman Newly-Inaugurated Officials’ Oath of Office
President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday (10/01) at the State Palace, Jakarta, witnessed the oath of office taken by the newly-inaugurated Chairperson and Member of Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia for the remainder of the 2026–2031 term.
The inauguration was based on Presidential Decree Number 84/P of 2026 and Presidential Decree Number 96/P of 2026 on the Appointment of the Chairperson and Member of Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia.
The newly-inaugurated officials of Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia are:
- Nuzran Joher, as Chairperson; and
- Radian Syam, as Member.
Before the President, Nuzran Joher and Radian Syam took the oath of office to carry out their duties to the best of their ability and with the utmost fairness. They also swore not to accept promises or gifts related to the duties of their positions.
“I do solemnly swear that I will fulfill the duties of Chairperson/Member of the Ombudsman to the best of my capabilities and in the fairest way possible. I do solemnly swear that I shall not, directly or indirectly, receive or accept from any person any promise, gifts or other considerations in order to influence my actions or decisions,” both recited the oath of office.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, Ombudsman Chairperson Nuzran Joher stated that the oath of office will serve as a guideline for carrying out the statutory mandate to oversee the public service implementation.
He emphasized that the inauguration of the ninth member of Ombudsman marks the commencement of a joint effort to implement internal improvements and strengthen the institution’s role as an external oversight body for public services.
It marks a new chapter for our now-complete nine-member team. With this, we are ready to act swiftly and make internal improvements,” Nurzan stated.
The event concluded with congratulations from President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming to the newly-inaugurated officials, followed by other invited guests, such as heads of state institutions, ministers, and heads of agencies. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (NST/MMB)
