President Prabowo Subianto Monday (02/03) welcomed the Central Executive Board of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta province.

The meeting aimed to discuss a series of activities commemorating harlah NU, the organization’s anniversary, including a scholarly discussion on Asta Cita (President Subianto’s eight missions) scheduled for Tuesday (02/04).

The President showed particular interest in the study of Asta Cita and immediately instructed that a set of books on the topic be sent to the discussion participants.

“He even ordered the delivery of a package of books on Asta Cita to the participants of tomorrow’s discussion,” Chairperson of NU Yahya Cholil Staquf said in a press statement following the meeting.

The meeting also served as a platform for strategic discussions between the President and the NU Central Executive Board (PBNU) on Indonesia’s vast potential and how to harness it for the benefit of the people.

In addition, President Subianto underscored the importance of safeguarding the nation’s natural resources and ensuring their allocation to support communities, particularly those in need.

“The President elaborated on how the country possesses abundant wealth that must be preserved. He outlined ideas on how this wealth, once secured, should be directed toward assisting the people, starting with the most vulnerable,” Yahya explained.

On that occasion, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Government’s agenda in promoting people’s welfare. With its extensive network and experience in social empowerment initiatives, NU pledged to contribute to the success of various national programs spearheaded by President Subianto.

“Nahdlatul Ulama, with the consolidation efforts we have undertaken successfully, has proven to be highly effective in implementing national programs. We are ready to contribute to supporting government agendas,” he said.

NU also reported ongoing collaborations with various ministries to implement strategic community programs. The organization highlighted that partnership established under the previous administration have continued seamlessly, including the stunting prevention program and the revitalization of integrated health posts with Ministry of Health, as well as the family resilience program with Ministry of Religious Affairs.

“We hope that the spirit and framework of cooperation, which have been running effectively, will continue to grow and improve, making even greater contributions to the people’s welfare,” the NU Chairperson remarked.

For the record, the organization’s visit to the Merdeka Palace reaffirmed its strong synergy with the Government in fostering a more prosperous Indonesia, grounded in Islamic values, nationalism, and social justice for all. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/ABD) (RIF/MUR)
