Special Staff to the President Billy Mambrasar launched the Millennial Farmer Program in Kebar district, Tambrauw regency, West Papua province, Sunday (19/9).

This is the fifth launch in the provinces of Papua and West Papua, after previously being carried out in Manokwari regency, Merauke regency, Teluk Bintuni regency, and Fakfak regency.

“The Millennial Farmers Program in Papua and West Papua provinces was welcomed with high enthusiasm from the Papuans with more than 5,000 people joining the program. This number will continue to grow every day,” said Billy in his remarks.

This launch is a collaborative activity between Ministry of Agriculture and the Provincial Government of West Papua, the Regency Government of Tambrauw, and the Inspirational Young Papua Movement to support national food security.

Billy said that the list of participants of the Millennial Farmer Program will be submitted and managed directly by the head of relevant district offices.

“The data will be integrated into Millennial Farmers as a whole and later will be managed by Ministry of Agriculture,” he added.

Billy said that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo is planning to review the Millennial Farmer Program during his working visit while attending the 20th National Games (PON) in Papua which will be held in October 2021.

“This proves the seriousness and enthusiasm of President Jokowi to develop the agricultural sector in Papua,” he said. (Team of Billy Mambrasar’s Office/UN) (EST/MMB)
