Press Statement by President Prabowo Subianto after Attending the CEO Roundtable Forum, in London, England, November 21, 2024

Indeed, I came here to pay a courtesy visit. He [King Charles III] showed concern about the environment, forest and nature conservation. We have a lot in common. I said that I am willing to support him and collaborate with him. He advised me to meet several figures who have had relations with him for years to find the solutions to the challenges we face. He has been to Indonesia twice, and I invited him to pay a visit again. I think that sums it up. I have also expressed my appreciation that I used to live and study here when I was young. So, that is the brief.
With the [British] Prime Minister and his ministers, we discussed cooperation in several sectors. They showed interest in helping us in several sectors, certainly in the economy sector, fisheries, education, health, and also defense.
With the [British] Deputy Prime Minister, we discussed several things. I explained the plan to implement a free nutritious meal program for children. They were very impressed and expressed their willingness to find a way to help us.
We did a lot today. I have just met 19 leaders of big companies here. And I also met the head of British Petroleum (BP) this morning. The total investment commitment we managed to get is US$8.5 billion: US$7 billion from BP and US$1.5 billion from several other companies.
So, our meetings today were quite productive. They are very enthusiastic to collaborate with Indonesia. Some of them have been in Indonesia for more than a hundred years. Their achievements are also good. I think this shows their optimism towards our economy, a trust. Likewise, Brazil, the US, and China also give us confidence. Alhamdulillah, very productive.

More than that actually. It is such great news for us to manage to get the commitment of US$18.5 billion. This shows global trust in our economy. So, we must be very attentive and show that we are a clean government. They respect our efforts.

The main agenda has finished. Oh, there is more meeting. One or two more.

I will head to Emirates, Abu Dhabi, on November 23, and then immediately go back and arrive in Jakarta on November 24.

Since it is a meeting between friendly countries, of course there must be a lot to discuss, right?
