Press Statement (Doorstop) by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Following the Simultaneous Quarter II Corn Harvest and the Launch of Corn Exports in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan Province, June 5, 2025

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Prabowo Subianto):

Well, we were very happy and grateful earlier. This is proof that through synergy and the cooperation of all elements, our food production has increased extraordinarily. This year alone, the first quarter saw an increase of nearly 50 percent, at 48 point something percent. Therefore, perhaps our goal to achieve self-sufficiency in corn might not take two to three years, it may only take one year for us to achieve self-sufficiency. This is truly significant.

The seeds used are also our own high-quality varieties, and much of the fertilizer used is organic. So, we are very happy and optimistic.

I extend my gratitude to the Chief of the National Police, the Minister of Agriculture, the Governor, all related parties, the Minister of Trade, and the Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces. This is the result of collaborative efforts. It is truly gratifying.

Our aspiration is not just to achieve food self-sufficiency.  I am confident that we will become a global food estate. We can offer a solution to the hunger and drought crises faced by many other nations.
