Press Statement (Doorstop) of President of the Republic of Indonesia after Attending the Peace and Gaza Cessation of War Summit, at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, October 14, 2025
Thank you, Ladies and Gentlemen.
I have attended Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in Egypt. Together with world leaders, I witnessed the signing of declaration focusing the main points of the ceasefire plan agreement, which will eventually lead to a comprehensive peace. Yes, this is a big effort. We are praying for the success of this plan. I think this is a good initiation. The point is that we came to support the plan. The important thing is that the ceasefire has been conducted, then the Israeli forces will be withdrawn soon, of course in stages. The hostages have already been released. The human remains are still on search.
I think that’s the point of the international trust to keep involving Indonesia during significant process towards world peace. It is indeed our commitment as a nation, my commitment for decades since my younger age, to defend Palestine. We continuously support the independence of Palestine, the Palestinian. Alhamdulillah, praise to God, Indonesia can contribute for the process. We actively support for Palestine. We have sent humanitarian assistance, ships, Hercules planes repeatedly. I believe the people of Palestine and of the Middle East see Indonesia’s commitment. We also send a substantial amount of food aid — thousands of tons of rice. We continue to commit to supporting this.
Then, the key mediators, such as the US, Türkiye, Qatar, Egypt and countries directly involved with Palestine, ask me about Indonesia’s readiness to support Palestine. We confirm that we are ready to join a peacekeeping mission. Now, we are discussing the details of the mission because the details are still complicated, not easy, but we begin to work.
I think that’s all I can say.
