Journalist:

Sir, delivering a speech at the UN stage for the first time, how do you reflect on it after 10 years?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Prabowo Subianto):

I think it’s an honor. I was given the opportunity to speak, including being placed in an honorable order:  after Brazil, which is always first and the United States, which is always second. Indonesia was given the opportunity. I believe this shows respect and appreciation for Indonesia. Alhamdulillah, I used that platform to convey our stance, Indonesia’s stance, especially in urging conflict resolution everywhere. But most importantly for us, of course, is our deep concern over the suffering of the people in Gaza. That’s what I wanted to highlight.

Journalist:

What was the reaction from the world leaders who were present, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Prabowo Subianto):

We received many positive responses because we’re also seen as realistic, balanced. I also stated openly that peace can only come if everyone recognizes, respects, and guarantees Israel’s security. Israel’s security must also be guaranteed; only then can we achieve peace.

Journalist:

Yesterday, President Trump praised your speech. Any comments on that, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Prabowo Subianto):

Well, he’s a humorous person. Honestly, I wasn’t too aware of it. Maybe that’s just my style. (AS/EP)
