President of the Republic of Indonesia

Well, ahead of Ramadan month and Eid al-Fitr, the price of some products is increasing. For example, the medium price of rice is Rp13,000 per kilogram. Then, the price of SPHP rice is Rp10,800 per kilogram and the stocks are abundant. I think everything is alright. I also saw that the price of onion is still at Rp40,000 per kilogram. The price of garlic is Rp40,000 per kilogram, while the price of shallot is Rp30,000 per kilogram. I think the prices are the same with those in Java Island. The price of eggs is higher than that in Java Island. That’s all.

How about the price of meat, Pak?

President of the Republic of Indonesia

I have seen that the price of chicken meat is between Rp45,000 and Rp48,000. A little bit higher than that in Java Island. I think it is still reasonable because it needs transportation costs from here.

Regarding these micro enterprises, sometimes it is difficult to access People’s Business Credit (KUR) to the banks caused by Bank Indonesia’s checking, what’s your take on that?

President of the Republic of Indonesia

Actually, we have various schemes. There is People’s Business Credit up to Rp500 million, with annual rate of 6 percent. KUR’s loan ranges from Rp25 million to Rp500 million can be accessed to government banks. Second, we also have PNM Mekaar for loans up to Rp10 million, Rp2 million, Rp5 million, Rp7 million with peer-to-peer [lending] system. We have all schemes. We also have Ultra Micro (UMi) financing for smaller loans. The matter is that people are not well informed yet about the schemes. Actually, people can access the loans to banks, PNM Mekaar, Umi and other financial institutions if they have productive businesses. PNM Mekaar and Umi do not ask for collateral.

Pak, regarding the issue of modern retailers and traditional traders, is it possible that the central government will issue a regulation?

President of the Republic of Indonesia

It is the regional government’s business, not the Central Government’s. It’s the authority of the regional government.
