Press Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia After the Inspection of Cash Assistance Distribution to Beneficiary Families Wednesday, 13 May 2020 at the Juanda Post Office, Bogor, West Java Province

Assalamu’alaikum  warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

This morning I want to ensure, inspecting the distribution of Cash Social Assistance (BST) to the community. Today, I was inspecting the Juanda Post Office. I saw that the distribution went well, the queue was in a proper distance, everyone wore a face mask, and before handing out the money, cleaning hands using hand sanitizer. I think we should apply those health protocols.

The social assistance that has been provided by the Government to the people is so many, including the Aspiring Family Program (PKH), Staple Food Card, Social Cash Assistance, Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), Village Funds Unconditional Cash Transfer (BLT Dana Desa), they are many. We hope that the assistance will reach approximately 55 percent of our people, both those who are underprivileged and those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope that with this social assistance we can strengthen, strengthen the people’s purchasing power so that our domestic consumption will return to normal. We do expect that.

For the first stage, it has not 100 percent completed yet. The distribution we conducted here was the last day, it was done. I have checked other places, for example, it was only 10 percent of Village Funds Unconditional Cash Transfer received by the community, so please, the people are still waiting, do ask the village officials, both Heads of neighborhood units (RT) and community units (RW) or village heads.

I am also grateful, there is good cooperation between the Central Government and regional governments as well as the village administrations, considering that this is an emergency situation because the COVID-19 pandemic causes one, two, to three data issues that still cannot be improved. However, I think it will be better in the second stage next month.
