Press Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia after Visit to Indonesian Companies in the Philippines, Kopiko Philippines Corporation (PT Mayora Indah Tbk) and W Hydrocolloids Inc. in Carmona, the Philippines, January 10, 2024

Earlier, we observed the investment of our business world, Indonesian companies in the Philippines, namely Mayora, which we found to dominate nearly 50 percent of the market in the Philippines. So, the sachet coffee products, which I believe are in very large quantities, will contribute to the demand for coffee, cassava, and other raw materials, which will be very beneficial for the farmers.

Secondly, I observed the seaweed industry. I also believe this industry presents an opportunity since the industry in the Philippines still requires a lot of raw materials. I believe this is also an opportunity for our seaweed farmers that we can develop, not only in one, two, or three locations, but throughout the country because we have a very long coastline. I think it’s very good, very good indeed; this factory is very good.
