President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)
Good morning.

Journalist
What’s on your agenda for today, Sir? Any specific activities on your schedule, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)
Well, I checked commodity prices, focusing on those that saw notable increases. Cayenne pepper was priced at Rp120 thousand during my check in Jakarta. It has now decreased by Rp70 thousand now, which is great. This trend is consistent with other commodity prices. Thus, the current rate for cayenne pepper stands at Rp70 thousand.

Journalist
Sir, is the increase in rice prices associated with the delay in the planting period?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)
Well, the fluctuations in rice prices are felt worldwide due to climate change factors, including super El Nino. As many as 22 countries have halted rice exports, affecting global rice and food prices. This is affecting all countries. However, the price increase in our nation is not as severe as in others. We can manage it effectively as the State Logistics Agency’s (Bulog) current stock stood at a robust 1.4 million tons at the end of last year. This quantity will be further bolstered as part of strategic reserves to ensure safety amidst a delay in the harvest.

Journalist
Sir, could you share your plans once you no longer serve as President?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)
Well, I will return to being an ordinary citizen. Do you know where I’ll be?

Journalist
Is it Solo, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)
I will be in Solo, being an ordinary citizen. That’s it.

Journalist
How about considering the role of UN Secretary-General, Sir?

President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo)
I will return to solo, being an ordinary citizen. Nothing else.

Journalist
Thank you, Sir.
