Press Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia Following His Working Visit to the Philippines at the Peninsula Hotel in Manila, the Philippines, January 11, 2024

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Alhamdulillah, the series of bilateral visits paid at the invitation of the President of the Philippines, President Marcos Jr. has been completed. Yesterday, the state event with His Excellency President Marcos Jr. also went smoothly.

This morning, I met with the Minister of Transportation of the Philippines, in which we should be grateful because our state-owned companies, namely PT PP and PT Adhi Karya, succeeded in obtaining two cooperation contracts through auction worth Rp8.5 trillion. Besides that, I also met with the Minister of Defense of the Philippines and he expressed his trust and satisfaction with Indonesian defense industry products, such as light airships made by PT DI and warships made by PT PAL.

It means, I believe that Indonesian SOEs, both in the labor and defense sectors, if managed properly, if managed with transparent management, will be able to compete in the international and global arena. And I hope this can continue to be developed and we hope that not only in the Philippines but also in other countries.
