President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):
A country’s competitiveness is crucial. The toll road construction will continuously improve our competitiveness with other countries regarding the speed of goods distribution, logistics, people’s mobility, and other aspects. As global competition intensifies, we must continue to expand and develop our infrastructure.

Sir, you have signed the decree to remove Budi Gunawan from his position as Head of the State Intelligence Agency. What is the reason for this decision, sir?
President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):
This is purely an administrative matter. The new Head of the State Intelligence will be inaugurated alongside the new cabinet ministers on the 21st of October. This decision has been made in consultation with Mr. Prabowo, as per his request.

Your term as president is going to end in a few days. Do you have a message for the people of North Sumatra regarding the upcoming regional election?
President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):
Yes, thank you.

Our national soccer team lost yesterday. Any words of support, sir?
President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):
In football sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes it’s a draw; it’s normal. The most important thing is to stay motivated because we still have a great chance of entering the next round.

Is this your final working visit to Medan, sir?
President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):
I’m not sure, if there are projects that still need to be inaugurated, I will inaugurate them. I still have two days.

Sir, will you fly back to Solo on a commercial flight on the 20th?
President of the Republic of Indonesia (Joko Widodo):
I’m not sure yet. I haven’t purchased a ticket.
