Assalamualaikum warrahmatullahi wabarakaatuh,
Today, my entourage and I will soon depart to attend the ASEAN-US Summit in California. For Indonesia, ASEAN partnership with the United States should be put in a partnership context for creating peace and prosperity.
In manifesting prosperity, Indonesia will encourage an increase in economic welfare in micro, small, medium enterprises sector; entrepreneurship and innovation promotion; including the development of digital economy. In achieving peace, I will exchange ideas with the leaders of ASEAN and the United States concerning peace and security in the region. I am also scheduled to lead a discussion on terrorism.
I would use the opportunity to share our countrys experiences as a country with the largest muslim population in the world in building tolerance, preventing radicalization and eradicating terrorism. We will raise the importance of community involvement, including through the social media, to counter terrorism.
Besides meetings with the government leaders, I will also attend US-ASEAN Business Council on 17 February 2016 in San Francisco., I will also use this opportunity to visit Silicon Valley to have meetings with the CEOs of giant IT companies.
