Press Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia on Indonesia’s Membership at the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), at Merdeka Palace, Special Capital Region of Jakarta, November 6, 2023
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Today, I want to share good news. As a result of the FATF Plenary in Paris last October, alhamdulillah, Indonesia was granted, by acclamation, full membership as the 40th member of the Financial Action Task Force. The full membership status is important to raise positive perceptions of Indonesian financial system so it can affect global confidence and trust on investment climate in the country.
I also would like to extend my gratitude to the National Coordinating Committee for Countermeasure and Eradication of Money Laundering and other key stakeholders for their hard work and commitment so that the country can obtain its full FATF membership. I hope this will be the first step towards better governance of Indonesia’s anti-money laundering policy and countermeasure of terrorist financing.
