Press Statement of President of the Republic of Indonesia on Working Visit to Saudi Arabia and the United States of America at Juanda International Airport, East Java Province, November 10, 2023

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

My fellow citizens,

Tonight, I along with a limited delegation will carry out a working visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the OIC Extraordinary Summit that will discuss the situation in Gaza. The Summit is essential, which means that it is an extra effort to stop the attacks of Israel on the Palestinian people. I will underscore the call for ceasefire so that it will soon be implemented and humanitarian aid can be multiplied.

After the OIC Summit in Riyadh, I will continue to travel to Washington DC on November 12. This visit will be a good opportunity to firmly voice Indonesia’s stance on Gaza to President Joe Biden. This visit is also a good opportunity to directly convey the results of the OIC Summit in Riyadh, which reflects the solidarity of OIC countries to defend justice and humanity.

From Washington DC, I will head to San Fransisco to attend the APEC Summit, and sustainable development and inclusive development issues will be two issues raised by Indonesia at the APEC Summit. Amidst APEC Summit, we will hold several bilateral meetings and meetings with businesspeople in San Fransisco. I and the entourage will, God willing, leave San Fransisco on November 17 after the Summit is over and return home.
