The procession carrying the duplicate of the Indonesian national Red and White heirloom flag and the Proclamation Manuscript arrived at the State Palace in Indonesia’s new capital of Nusantara (IKN) in East Kalimantan province, Saturday, August 10, 2024.

Right in front of the IKN State Palace, two members of the Purna Paskibraka Duta Pancasila (the former members of the National Heirloom Flag-Hoisting Team), namely Naila Aulita Alqubra Sinapoy who was assigned to carry the duplicate of the Red and White heirloom flag and Lilly Wenda who was assigned to carry the Proclamation Manuscript, got out of the “Maung” car (a special military vehicle produced by state-owned enterprise PT Pindad).

The two of them then walked through the honor guard of Paspampres (the Presidential Security Detail) and the 2023 Purna Paskibraka Duta Pancasila.

The duplicate of the Red and White heirloom flag and the Proclamation Manuscript were then taken through the west hall of the main corridor to the Flag Room at the IKN State Palace where the duplicate of the Red and White heirloom flag and the Proclamation Manuscript were handed over to Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono to be stored.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will hand over the flag to Paskibraka (the national heirloom flag-hoisting team) to be hoisted at the IKN State Palace on August 17, 2024 at the Commemoration Ceremony of the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

This procession was historic because this was the first time that the duplicate of the Red and White heirloom flag and the Proclamation Manuscript were brought to the IKN. This procession also took around 1,320 kilometers from the National Monument in Jakarta to the IKN State Palace.

This procession serves not only as a symbol of respect for the history and struggle of the nation, but also illustrates the determination to keep maintaining national unity and integrity. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (TM/EP)
