Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said that the construction made by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo  to high-ranking government officials including Ministers of the Working Cabinet, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), and Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) not to do acts that give rise to debates or controversies, and to instead be focused on their own tasks and to cooperate and collaborate is already clear and does not have to be interpreted in any other ways.

Pramono also said that the Government is now focused on its tasks to improve many sectors, especially economic sector. According to Pramono, the efforts have come to fruition as the country’s Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) index, competitiveness index, and investment grade have improved. “So basically, everything is already good. We hope that any pros will not affect our credibility and trust (from investors),“ Pramono said to reporters after attending a Plenary Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (2/10).

Pramono believes that what the President said during cabinet meetings, both open meetings and closed-door meetings, are around the Government’s aims to make economic growth higher next year, to maintain inflation rate at the current rate or even lower, and to the State Budget for pro-people programs.“Thus, these are what the Government is currently working,” Pramono said.

Regarding stability in 2018 political year, Pramono said that in April next year the registration of temporary candidates of presidential and vice presidential election will begin, while between July and August next year, there will be nominees of presidential and vice presidential candidates, as well as regional elections.

Pramono added that in 2018 will host a number of major events such as Asian Games and the IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting in Bali. “Now that we’re entering the political years, issues within the Government must be managed well, openly, and transparently. Should there are differences, we solve them in limited cabinet meetings. That’s what the President has instructed,” Pramono said.

Regarding the solidity of the Cabinet, Pramono guaranteed that the Cabinet remains solid and if there are differences in statements given by high-ranking government officials, the differences must be discussed during cabinet meetings. “We do not only discuss issues that will be announced to the public but also issues that we have not announced to the public during cabinet meetings. The President also told Coordinating Ministers to coordinate ministries and state institutions,” Pramono concluded.  (FID/JAY/ES) (EP/YM/Naster)
