Public Can Join Virtual Independence Ceremony

The Presidential Secretariat has announced that the public may participate in the ceremony to commemorate the 75th Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace via video conference.

As many as 17,845 invitation quotas are provided for the public to join the event virtually.

According to Head of Protocol Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat Yayat Hidayat, the announcement was made online as an effort to comply with health protocols and to contain the spread of COVID-19.

He also said the public can participate in the ceremony online on 17 August 2020 by registering through web address https://pandangistana.setneg.go.id starting Monday, 10 August 2020 at 17:08:45 WIB.

“After registering, applicants will receive a notification via a WhatsApp message and an e-mail as a proof that the request has been accepted,” said Yayat.

Request that has been accepted will get an email containing the guideline to follow the the ceremony of the Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia or the National Flag-Lowering Ceremony at the Merdeka Palace in person via video conference.

Each registrant will only receive one video conference invitation link.

“Participants who take part in the online ceremony will also receive an electronic certificate which will be sent via e-mail after attending the ceremony,” he said. (BPMI / EN)
