The Government Monday (04/24) predicted that the peak of this year’s return traffic would fall on 24 and 25 April 2023.

To that end, the public has been urged to avoid the peak to prevent congestion.

Return traffic happens when people who celebrate Eid in their hometowns return to the cities where they work or study.

“To avoid congestion during the peak of the return traffic that will fall on 24 and 25 April 2023, the Government calls on the public, if there is no urgent need, to avoid the peak by returning after the peak of the return traffic on 26 April 2023,” President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said.

Ministry of Transportation has previously estimated that as many as 203 thousand vehicles are expected to move into capital Jakarta through Jakarta-Cikampek toll road during the peak of the return traffic.

“The figure is significantly higher compared to that of normal days, which typically see only 53 thousand vehicles,” President Jokowi added.

The President also reminded public to stay vigilant during their return trip.

“Stay vigilant, observe all rules, and follow all instructions from the officers on the ground,” President Jokowi said.

The President also thanked those involved in contributing to the success of this year’s Eid exodus traffic. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (AP/EP)
