Community Health Center (Puskesmas) should provide preventive healthcare and raise public awareness, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“Community Health Center aims to provide preventive healthcare, not curative one. Puskesmas is established to prevent diseases, not to generate income,” President Jokowi said in his remarks at the launching ceremony of the Joint Movement for Tuberculosis Eradication in the West Javan city of Cimahi, Wednesday (29/1).

Puskesmas, the President added, is not established to generate regional revenue (PAD). The main goals of Puskesmas are disease prevention and community health improvement, he added.

President Jokowi also called on all relevant parties to take every measure to prevent the Tuberculosis, adding that for curative measure, the Government provides “Find, Treat and Cure Tuberculosis” (TOSS) measure.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also inspected the implementation of Stunting Prevention program and distribution of vitamins at South Cimahi Community Health Center. (TGH/EN)
