Railway Reactivation to Boost Tourism: President Jokowi

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said that reactivated railway routes in West Java Province have beautiful scenery.

“Charlie Chaplin visited Garut twice in 1926 on train. The route has breathtaking scenery,” the President told the journalists after handing over 257 land certificates for mosques, musalas, Islamic boarding schools, and educational institutions, at the Cibatu Grand Mosque, Garut, West Java, Friday (18/1).

President Jokowi went on to say that the reactivation of railway stations aims to boost tourism in West Java, since many of the stations are connected to tourism spots.

For the record, the Government is currently reactivating several abandoned railway stations to generate new economic centers.

The four railway routes that will soon be reactivated are: 1. Bandung Station-Ciwidey Station, 2.Banjar Station-Pangandaran Station-Cijulang Station; 3. Cibatu Station-Garut Station-Cikajang Station,; and 4.  Rancaekek Station-Tanjungsari Station. (EN/DNS/ES)
