Receives Minister of Finance of Qatar, President Jokowi Explains 12 Economic Reform Packages

President Joko Widodo received a courtesy call from Minister of Finance and Trade of Qatar Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (2/8) afternoon. The bilateral meeting discussed the efforts to increase investment and trade cooperation, parcitularly in investment sector.
As one of countries that has the highest Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) in the world, Qatar commits to continue increasing its investment in Indonesia. So far, Qatar invests in telecommunication as well as banking sectors, and it starts to invest in retail sector. However, Qatar would also like to invest more in other sectors, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said after the meeting.
In the meeting, the President, who was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution and Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, also explained 12 economic reform packages. Minister Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani really appreciated the explanation from the President.
A delegation from Indonesia is planned to pay a visit, to specially disseminate the 12 economic reform packages, Minister Retno added, explaining the agenda after the bilateral meeting.
In addition, Indonesia and Qatar also agreed to have a joint commission meeting in economic sector in 2017. This meeting will be held after the visit of Indonesian delegation to disseminate the 12 economic reform packages.
According to Minister Retno, the purpose of the joint commission meeting is to follow up the results of the delegation visit to be carried out in 2016.
After meeting the Minister of Finance and Trade of Qatar, President Joko Widodo had bilateral meetings with the delegation of Khazanah as well as Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. (RMI/ES)(MMB/YM/Naster)
