The Red and White Cabinet retreat at the Military Academy in Magelang was a significant experience for the ministers. They engaged in various activities, from morning exercises and marching drills to classroom sessions. These exercises not only challenged their physical endurance but also fostered stronger bonds, unified goals, and enhanced camaraderie among the cabinet members.

“This experience made a strong impression on me, and I believe it is crucial for cabinet members to synchronize their actions and be in tune with each other,” said Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo.

Dito emphasized that strong interpersonal connections and camaraderie among cabinet members are crucial in fostering synergy and ensuring the efficient execution of their responsibilities.

“This aligns with President Subianto’s directive, as he has tasked the Red and White Cabinet to operate with both efficiency and speed,” Dito noted.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar enderscored that the retreat was instrumental in strengthening solidarity and aligning the cabinet’s shared vision.

“It seems that this activity is not only beneficial for cabinet members, but also for echelon 1 and 2 officials in ministries. I think it would be worthwhile to consider conducting a similar program,” Umar said.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia added that discipline training effectively instills a sense of responsibility in any circumstance, while expressing optimism about introducing similar activities within his ministry to foster this mindset.

“I struggle a bit with waking up early since my usual routine involves going to bed at 2 a.m. and waking up at 5 a.m. for morning prayers, then catching some more sleep until 7. But here, that’s not possible. We go to bed at 2 a.m. and have to wake up at 4 a.m. It’s a good challenge because it forces us to maintain discipline, and we must be prepared to fulfill our duties, even if we only get 1-2 hours of sleep,” Bahlil said.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi stressed the significance of teamwork among cabinet members in fulfilling their responsibilities.

“It’s like a football game: whether you’re a forward, defender, or winger, everyone works together as a single unit,” Hadi remarked. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/ABD) (GWH/RAS/EP)
