Registration for 77th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony Open for Public
The Presidential Secretariat Tuesday (08/02) announced that the public can register to attend the 77th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony, including the flag-raising ceremony and the flag-lowering ceremony on August 17, 2022.
This year’s ceremony will be held in a hybrid format.
As many as 77,000 invitees can watch the ceremony online through a platform provided, while 2,500 invitees will attend the flag-raising ceremony and 2,500 invitees will attend the flag-lowering at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
Those who want to participate in the ceremony can register and fill out the form on Pandang Istana official website on https://www.pandang.istanapresiden.go.id starting from August 2, 2022.
“We hope this year’s ceremony can be attract 77,000 guests online,” Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono said, adding that through the virtual ceremony, guests from different backgrounds are expected to communicate and discuss among themselves.
In a meantime, Head of the Protocol Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat M. Yusuf Permana said the number of guests reached 40,000 last year, adding that the number will increase given the high public interest in Jakarta and outside Jakarta to take part in the ceremony.
“Even overseas Indonesians also want to attend the ceremony online,” Yusuf added.
For the record, those who register will be verified before receiving a confirmation message through WhatsApp and e-mail containing further information and provisions to attend the 77th Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony, both virtually or on site.
“Moreover, the Presidential Secretariat will provide a variety of presents, including presents for first 100 people attending the flag-raising ceremony and the first 100 people attending the flag-lowering ceremony. Exciting entertainment also will be offered,” Yusuf added.
Furthermore, the Presidential Secretariat’s Deputy for Protocol, Pers, and Media Bey Machmudin said that holding virtual ceremony also has its own obstacles in creating an atmosphere as if the participants were attending the ceremony in the palace. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (AP/EP)
