Religious Affairs Minister Calls on People to be Thoughtful in Facing Diversity

Ahead of the 2018 Christmas on Tuesday (25/12), Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin wished a merry Christmas for Christians across Indonesia.

Through Christmas, the Minister called on all Christians to be thoughtful upon facing diversity in order to create a peaceful sense of togetherness. Because peace will allow all people to do good deeds, he added.

“I invite all people in general, and all Christians in particular to play active role in creating peace and support the acceleration of national development,” Minister Lukman said in Jakarta, Sunday (23/12).

The Minister went on to say that celebrating Christmas is not only a matter of carols and praises to God. In fact, Christmas can be interpreted as a concrete effort to understand the diversity, realize noble human dignity, and the importance of building civilization.

“Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2019. Hopefully we all are able to spread peace, to anyone, anywhere and anytime,” the Minister said.
