President of the Republic of Indonesia (Prabowo Subianto)

Your Excellency, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, and esteemed delegation,

Once again, I warmly welcome you to Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the great honor of receiving Your Excellency’s visit here at the Merdeka Palace, in the capital of the Republic of Indonesia.

This is a very important visit, as it underscores the strong and close friendship between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Indonesia—and even more importantly, between the Chinese people and the Indonesian people. This year marks the 75th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, and it is also the 70th anniversary of the Asian-African Conference in Bandung. Both our countries have long histories, and today we are strategic partners with a comprehensive relationship.

Your Excellency,

I reaffirm our commitment to strengthen this partnership with the People’s Republic of China and with the Chinese nation. We believe this relationship brings benefit not only to our two countries, but also to the broader region of Asia—and possibly to the world.

I thank you.

Now, I invite Your Excellency to deliver your remarks.

Premier of the People’s Republic of China (Li Qiang)

(As translated)

As Your Excellency just mentioned, over these 75 years, our two countries have supported one another—including during Indonesia’s struggle for independence, in responding to the tsunami, and in combating COVID-19. Our friendship has grown even stronger at every level.

Currently, the world is facing tremendous upheaval. Global peace and global development are under threat from uncertainty and instability. Indonesia is both a good neighbor and a close partner. China is ready to work hand-in-hand with Indonesia to carry forward the mission and vision upon which our diplomatic ties were founded, to deepen the tradition of friendship between our nations, to strengthen collaboration and unity, to further solidify the five-pillar framework of cooperation, to jointly confront various risks and challenges, to promote shared development, and to bring greater prosperity to the people of both countries.
