Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Distinguished Ministers of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet,

Distinguished Governor and Vice Governor of East Java,

Distinguished National Assembly Coordinator of Islamic Students Association Alumni Corps,

Distinguished Chairperson of Islamic Students Association (HMI) Adinda Arya Kharisma Hardy,

All members of HMI Coordinating Board in Indonesia and abroad,

And all members of HMI Regional Coordinating Board in Indonesia and abroad, green-black members,

Ladies and Gentlemen.

The Indonesia Onward Cabinet has so many HMI members, including Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali, Minister of National Development Planning / Head of the National Development Planning Agency Suharso Monoarfa, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning / Head of the National Land Agency Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo, and Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia.

They are all HMI members. Maybe there are others I did not mention. Regardless, this is not many, but too many.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I know the HMI as an organization that has produced religious and national leaders from different educational backgrounds with expertise in extensive and various fields. However, our future challenges are greater.

We are aware that we are in a disruption era with rapid changes and we cannot be stunned by past glories. We must always hone our sensitivity, be adaptive to changes and agile in facing changes, be quick in making decisions, and be quick and smart in taking actions.

With its great potential, the HMI must realize the ideals of the founding fathers to align Islam and Indonesia with a reform spirit, to reinforce national unity in diversity, and to become a supporting pillar of national integration.

Distinguished HMI members,

Given the condition, the HMI must grow as the era changes, be adaptive to changes, be responsive to new realities, and adjust with the rapid flow of disruption and changes. Keep building collaborations in all important agendas for national development, including in the efforts to overcome the pandemic and its impacts, as well as in helping the people who are having a hardship, in building optimism, and in building hope so that our country immediately recovers and bounces back from the pandemic. The HMI must also be ready to be at the forefront in national development that will shape Indonesia into a nation that is more respected, developed, and prosperous.

I believe the HMI can spearhead national development and be more active in preparing (and) creating excellent human resources, generate and create future leaders who will make the nation ready to compete in the current hyper-competition era, and move forward, become the winner, and be confident that the HMI can do it

That concludes my speech in this auspicious occasion.

By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I hereby inaugurate the 31st Congress of the Islamic Students Association Coordinating Board.

I thank you.

Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. (DH/MEP)
