Remarks of President Joko Widodo on the Occasion of the First Landing at West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati, 24 May 2018, in Majalengka, West Java

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Alhamdulillahirabbil alamin, we have witnessed a historical landing, the first official landing at the Kertajati International Airport after several landing trials have been done.
We hope that Kertajati Airport in Majalengka, West Java, will be an airport which can provide services to all the people of West Java and certainly to all Indonesian people who want to visit West Java. Additionally, we also hope that it will have an economic impact on both Majalengka District and throughout West Java Province.
We also want Kertajati Airport to be integrated with Patimban Harbour since the distance from the airport to Patimban is approximately 40 kilometres. So, the integration will ease and facilitate services to the investors, to the incoming investments. Therefore, we expect the economic growth in West Java Province will improve and be better.
Thirdly, this is a successful trial of a cooperation between the central government, the government of West Java Province as well as the private companies in the establishment of Kertajati Airport. We will also develop this business model in other provinces, in other areas, so the people could really reap the benefits of the development acceleration in the near time.
