Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia After an Inspection at dr. Soeradji Tirtonegoro Central General Hospital (RSUP), Klaten Regency, Central Java Province, January 31, 2024

I am here to observe the hospital’s services to patients, particularly those registered in Healthy Indonesia Card (KIS)/Health Care and Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan) insurance. I noticed that everything runs well here. Though many patients must wait in line, the waiting time is only 20 to 25 minutes. I guess it is still good. The cleanliness is also maintained.

Mr. President, will the number of recipients of KIS will increase this year or will it remain the same as 2023’s?

More than 95 percent of our population has been registered in BPJS, so the coverage just needs a slight increase. The most important thing is to prioritize services of KIS/BPJS; services and the speed. I notice that services at hospitals are good. In mid-2024, hospitals at the provincial level will be provided with state-of-the-art medical devices for the management of cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and stroke. This hospital will also start expansion in mid-2024 because it is needed.
