Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at Inauguration of the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road Sections and Regional Roads in Riau Province, May 31, 2024

Good morning,

Alhamdulillah, today the construction of the first phase of the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road, from Bangkinang to Koto Kampar was completed. This 24.7-kilometer section, built between 2019 and 2024 with a budget of Rp4.8 trillion, is now ready for use. This segment is part of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road, which we hope will continue to expand each year until it fully connects Pekanbaru to Padang City.

Regarding regional roads, the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in Riau Province has completed the construction and rehabilitation of ten road sections totaling 63 kilometers, with a budget of Rp369 billion.

I urge the Governor, the Regents, and the Mayors in attendance to ensure that the completed toll roads are strategically planned and designed to connect with productive areas such as agriculture, plantations, and tourism. This will bring tangible benefits to the people, promote regional economic growth, and enhance both the mobility of individuals and goods. Our aim is to boost our competitiveness on the global stage.

By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this morning I hereby inaugurate the Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road, including the Bangkinang-Pangkalan and Bangkinang-Koto Kampar sections, as well as the implementation of the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads in Riau Province.
