Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at Inauguration of the Women and Children’s Health Services Building at Sardjito Hospital Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, August 28, 2024
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,
Asalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh.
Good morning,
May prosperity be upon us all.
Distinguished Minister of Health;
Distinguished Acting Governor of Special Region of Yogyakarta Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X; the President Director [of Sardjito Hospital], Regent of Sleman;
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Esteemed Guests.
We are aware that maternal mortality in our country is the 9th highest out of 10 ASEAN countries, and child mortality is 7th highest. This indicates a very serious situation. Therefore, I appreciate the construction of the 8-story women and children health services building at Sardjito Hospital, which cost Rp267 billion for the building itself, Rp240 billion for equipment, and an additional Rp50 billion for human capital development.
When I first entered, I noticed that all the equipment was very modern and digital. I believe this will set a benchmark for how hospital management can be fully digitized. Once we walked in, it did not feel like a hospital at all. It felt more like stepping into a 5-star hotel. You do not trust me? Just come and see for yourself. I was truly amazed.
To that end, we will soon inaugurate 12 hospitals across the country, each meeting the same high standards as the Women and Children’s Health Services Building at Sardjito Hospital that I just mentioned.
We hope that the construction of this building will improve health services for women and children, thereby significantly reduce maternal and child mortality rates. We minimize it to the lowest possible rates.
That concludes my remarks. And by saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this morning I hereby inaugurate Women and Children’s Health Services Building of Sardjito Hospital, in Sleman regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta province.
I thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakaatuh.
