Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Assalaamu’alaikum warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh,

Distinguished Heads and Leaders of State Institutions,

Distinguished Chairperson of Muhammadiyah Central Management Board Professor Doctor Haedar Nashir and all ranks of Muhammadiyah Central Management Board,

Distinguished Chairperson of Aisyiyah Central Management Board Siti Noordjannah Djohantini and all ranks of Aisyiyah Management,

Distinguished Regional Chairpersons of the Provincial, Municipal, Village, and Special Municipal Boards across Indonesia and abroad,

Distinguished Chairperson and Leaders of Autonomous Organizations in Muhammadiyah Organization across Indonesia,

Beloved members of Muhammadiyah Organization whom I am proud of,

Ladies and Gentlemen.

First and foremost, on behalf of the people, the nation, and the state, I wish happy 109th anniversary to Muhammadiyah Organization. In its 109th year, Muhammadiyah Organization has colored the journey of the nation, synergized, built strength, struggled, nurtured, and advanced Indonesia.

History has recorded that Muhammadiyah Organization is committed to instilling the core values to strengthen progressive Muslims as the key to achieving the dignity of perfect people. The core values of progressive Islam and “middle-path” (Wasatiyah) Islam have become the foundation of religious moderation to make Indonesia the biggest Muslim population country that is safe and democratic.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Government appreciates the contribution and consistency of Muhammadiyah in pandemic management. Since the onset of the pandemic, Muhammadiyah has moved swiftly to use all of its business’ charitable potentials in an organized manner, to carry out humanitarian work sincerely and wholeheartedly. Muhammadiyah has set an example of social piety: optimizing the utilization of more than 117 hospitals and 63 higher education institutions of Muhammadiyah and its women’s wing Aisyiyah to help those exposed to COVID-19; assisting, strengthening, and enlightening the people; carrying out medical measures and promoting health protocols.

And thank God, thanks to the cooperation and hard work of all national components, we have managed to curb COVID-19 transmission. We have decreased it and the people can gradually resume their activities. Productive businesses have also begun to resume operation. Nevertheless, we must remain vigilant to avoid a spike in positive cases.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We must be grateful that international communities laud COVID-19 pandemic management in Indonesia. Furthermore, we must also be grateful that Indonesia is trusted as the chair, to assume G20 presidency. We are the first developing country that achieved this great trust and honor. Acknowledgment that proves that we are capable. We will optimize this G20 presidency. We will use it to contribute to global prosperity that is more equal, fairer, and more inclusive for a world that is more resilient to crises, and for a world that is more resilient to face climate change.

We must also continue to contribute to a more peaceful, more tolerant world. As the biggest Muslim population country in the world with values of the state ideology Pancasila and national motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (unity in diversity), we can set an example for the world. Progressive Islam and Wasatiyah Islam that Muhammadiyah Organization fights for is not only important for Indonesia but also relevant for the world.

That concludes my speech on this auspicious occasion.

I thank you.

Wassalaamu’alaikum warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh. (DH/MUR)
