Distinguished Chief of the Indonesian National Police [Polri], along with Polri big family,

Distinguished Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces and all his staff,

Distinguished Polri’s elders, seniors and retired officers,

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good afternoon!

First of all, I would like to express my congratulations on the 78th  Bhayangkara Day (the Anniversary of the Indonesian National Police or Polri) to the entire Polri family wherever you serve.

Also, thank you for the hard work and the dedication of all personnel of Polri in maintaining stability and security in the democratic process of the 2024 general election and Indonesia’s big development agendas so that our nation is able to keep growing amidst the current global challenges and uncertainty.

Distinguished Polri Big Family,

Polri, which plays a central role in society, is always in contact with people’s daily lives. Polri does not have holidays. Polri is everywhere, overlooking no areas. But on the other hand, this means that the public also watch closely all the movements and actions of Polri’s personnel.

I am happy that several recent surveys show that Polri’s image is improving, even ranking second highest [of all state institutions’ performance]. We should be grateful for this and must maintain and improve this achievement. By what? By establishing good public communication, by being a good example, by being a role model, by building people-oriented service ethics. Because the challenges ahead will not be any easier, both in terms of geopolitics, economics, technology, climate, everything is increasingly complicated and full of uncertainty.

On the other hand, Polri’s performance of duties also greatly influences the nation’s resilience in facing various challenges, as well as our competitiveness in the midst of global competition. Therefore, in the future Polri must be more agile, must be more adaptive and have a strategic perspective, must serve as a cooling system and a consolidator for our diversity, must be professional and not selective in law enforcement, and must have technical capabilities that are superior to those of criminals.

Moreover, in tackling increasingly complex and sophisticated transnational crimes, Polri must also be able to keep up with developments in science and technology and collaborate to strengthen our country’s security. Furthermore, soon we will enter the 2024 regional elections. I instruct Polri to support and make this democratic party a success. Maintain your neutrality, maintain stability and safeguard our democracy, so that regional elections can run safely, honestly and fairly.

Once again, congratulations on 78th Bhayangkara Day. Be Bhayangkara persons who uphold the Tribrata Polri [Polri’s three basic principles] and are solid internally, synergistic externally, especially with the Indonesian National Defense Forces, and faithfully serve and protect the people. Long live Polri!

I thank you.

Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
