Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Closing Ceremony of the 16th National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) of 2021 in Papua, 13 November 2021, at Mandala Stadium, Jayapura City, Papua Province

May peace be upon us all,

Greetings of virtue.
Distinguished Minister of Youth and Sports and other Ministers who are present;
Distinguished Governor of Papua and other Governors of all provinces who are present, Regents and Mayors of Papua and West Papua provinces;
Distinguished Chief of the National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia;
Distinguished athletes and officials whom I am proud of;
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Following the 16th National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) in Papua, I would like to sincerely express that the work of Papua province as the host is extraordinary. The organization of National Sports Week (PON) and Peparnas is extraordinary. The support of all provinces’ delegates is extraordinary. And I notice that the sportsmanship and achievement of all athletes are also extraordinary.
Specifically, I would like to congratulate Papua province for all of its achievements. At this Peparnas, Papua province is the general champion, won the most medals. I would also like to congratulate Papua province for becoming the host of PON and Peparnas. And congratulations to all athletes, mainly, once again, the Papuan athletes who have shown their achievements. In conclusion, not only we can do it, but we are also great.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
This Peparnas delivers us a lot of messages. This Peparnas shows us that disability is not an obstacle. With persistence and hard work, we can overcome all difficulties and we can reach all goals.
By organizing Peparnas, it represents the remarkable awakening of our national sports. [By organizing the Peparnas] we also celebrate diversity, respect equality, and together we make achievements for the interest of the nation and state.
Once again, I would like to thank you for the hard work of all people who have made the 16th Peparnas a success. I reiterate that not only we can do it, but also we can show that we are great. Once again, we are great!
