Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Nusantara Superblock in Nusantara Capital, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, December 20, 2023

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Good afternoon,

May peace be upon us all.

Distinguished Minister of State Secretary, Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning,

Distinguished Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces, Chief of the Indonesian National Police and the ranks,

Distinguished Governor of East Kalimantan, Regent of North Penajam Paser, and their administration,

Head of Nusantara Capital Authority,

Distinguished Mr. Ridwan Kamil,

Distinguished President Director, Board of Directors, and management of PT Wulandari Bangun Laksana Tbk,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This afternoon I am very pleased because there is an investor from East Kalimantan, from Balikpapan city who is taking part in the development of Nusantara Capital, and the investment is huge, Rp3 trillion. They are also building something big. The area of the land is 7.5 hectares, that of the shopping center is 40,000 square meters, the total room of the 5-star hotel is 215, that of the 4-star hotel is 200. In addition, they will also build eight apartment towers, two office towers, an international school, and places of entertainment.

I really appreciate this investment and hopefully in terms of design, they can compete with investors from Jakarta. I would like to say one thing about design, green building. What we want to build across Nusantara Capital is a green zone, a green environment, so the concept is different from that of other cities across the globe. Perhaps, the design can be conveyed to the Head of Nusantara Capital Authority so that Mr. Ridwan Kamil can provide guidance and curate [the design]. That way, the concept will be the same; a green zone, green environment, and green building.

We hope that [the investment] can contribute to economic growth in East Kalimantan province, especially in Balikpapan city and it can create jobs, as many jobs possible for our people. Nusantara Superblock will truly be an attraction in Nusantara Capital, making it a world-class national capital that is different from other countries’ capitals.

That concludes my statement. By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon I hereby declare the groundbreaking of Nusantara Superblock begin.
