Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Handover of Bonuses and Appreciation for 2024 Paris Paralympic Athletes, on the Front Yard of the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, September 11, 2024

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh;

Good afternoon;

Peace be upon us all.

My respects to the Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet;

NPC Chairperson and CdM, athletes, coaches, and officials;

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed guests.

First of all, I would like to congratulate the athletes at the 2024 Paris Paralympics who have successfully made brilliant achievements and given tremendous pride to our nation.

I am very happy and proud because in this event the Red and White Contingent managed to make a new history, as mentioned by the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, by obtaining 14 medals; one gold medal, eight silver medals, and five bronze medals.

And as a form of appreciation for this proud achievement, the government has prepared a bonus of Rp6 billion for gold medalists, Rp2,750 million for silver medalists, and Rp1,650 million for bronze medalists. And, athletes who have not succeeded in getting a medal will also be given an appreciation of Rp250 million. This also applies to coaches and assistant coaches, who will also be given appreciation for their dedication and hard work in giving birth to champions.

This success is not instant, but it is the fruit of a long process carried out, both early talent identification, long-term and sustainable training, as well as the hard work of coaches, support teams, and various other parties. I hope that these achievements can raise the spirit and optimism of paralympic athletes and motivate Paralympic athletes to practice more diligently.
