Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Inauguration of Ancol Sentiong Pump Station, Jakarta Special Capital Region, December 11, 2023
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
Good afternoon,
May prosperity be upon all of us,
Om swastiastu,
Namo Buddhaya,
Greeting of Virtues,
Distinguished Minister of Public Works and Public Housing and all the ministers present,
Governor of Jakarta Special Capital Region,
All the community figures present,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We are aware that we have completed two dams in the upstream areas: Ciawi Dam and Sukamahi Dam. Those dams greatly reduce flooding in Jakarta. In the lower area, we have also completed Ciliwung waterway which will channel water from Ciliwung River to the East Flood Canal and we are continuing the normalization of Ciliwung River whose remaining about 17 kilometer-long section we still need to complete.
Today we have already completed Sentiong Water Pump Station in Ancol which costs Rp481 billion. We hope that with the completion in the upstream, in the middle, in the downstream areas, and in Sentiong, we can reduce flooding in Jakarta by approximately 62 percent. This is the biggest pump station in Indonesia and it also cost a very large budget of Rp481 billion.
We hope that this pump station will reduce flooding in seven sub-districts in Jakarta Special Capital Region.
That concludes my remarks and by saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon I hereby inaugurate Ancol Sentiong Pump Station, North Jakarta City, Jakarta Special Capital Region.
I thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
