Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Inauguration of dr. Ben Mboi Central General Hospital in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province, December 6, 2023

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Good morning,

Distinguished Minister of Health, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Acting Governor of East Nusa Tenggara, Mayor of Kupang,

Distinguished Doctor Nafsiah Ben Mboi, Executive Director of the Hospital, along with all the hospital’s management, doctors, and nurses present,

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let’s praise God the Almighty and thank Him for His grace. This morning we are going to inaugurate dr. Ben Mboi Central General Hospital. This is the largest hospital in eastern Indonesia, especially in East Nusa Tenggara, occupying an area of approximately 14 hectares, and the building itself is 35 thousand square meters. This is a very big hospital.

I also see that the medical equipment here is super modern. Earlier I have seen the MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and the CT (computed tomography) scan, and I wonder whether there are any human resources available here who can operate those facilities. Because the equipment is super modern, so this hospital should be able to collaborate with other hospitals. For example, as I’ve been informed by the Minister of Health, just one tool like the CT scan costs Rp20 billion. Therefore, we must always take good care of the facilities.

And, hopefully this hospital will serve as health infrastructure in East Nusa Tenggara and can also improve health services for the community. There is no need to go all the way to Jakarta, because just here everything can be handled. And most importantly, more human resources, especially specialist and subspecialist doctors, must be added immediately, so that existing shortages can be filled immediately.

This hospital took a budget of approximately Rp420 billion. Let’s give a big round of applause. The budget of Rp420 billion is such a huge one and, therefore, should be applauded. But of course, the budget is also with the approval of the House of Representatives (DPR RI). Thank you Mr Mekki for your presence here as a representative of the House’s leaders.

And, by asking God the Almighty for His blessings and grace, this morning I inaugurate dr. Ben Mboi Central General Hospital, Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province.
