Good evening,
May peace be upon us all.
Distinguished Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia and Spouse,
Ladies and Gentlemen, Esteemed Guests.
We, as Indonesian nation, should be grateful for having batik, which is not just an ordinary work of art, but a world’s intangible cultural heritage with symbolism, techniques, and culture deeply rooted in Indonesia. To that end, on today’s ‘Istana Berbatik’, an event held to commemorate National Batik Day on 2nd October, I call on all Indonesian people to boost pride in the wealth of Indonesian arts and cultures while actively preserving and developing them.
By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, tonight I hereby officially inaugurate ‘Istana Berbatik’.
