Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Inauguration of Serpong-Pamulang Section of Serpong-Cinere Toll Road and Cengkareng-Batuceper-Kunciran Toll Road on Thursday, 1 April 2021, at Pamulang Toll Gate in South Tangerang, Banten Province

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Good morning,

May Peace be Upon Us All.

Honorable Ministers of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet;

Honorable Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Cabinet Secretary;

Honorable Governor of Banten Province, Mayor of South Tangerang City, Mayor of Tangerang City, Head of Regional Military Command, Head of Regional Police;

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Alhamdulillah, this morning Serpong-Pamulang section of Serpong-Cinere Toll Road spanning10.1 kilometers and Cengkareng – Batuceper – Kunciran Toll Road spanning 14.19 kilometers have been completed and can start operation.

These toll roads are part of Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) II Toll Road to complete toll road structure in Greater Jakarta (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi) area and also to complete the west side of JORR II Toll Road.

The people of Tangerang and South Tangerang eagerly await the operation of these toll roads, because these toll roads can be alternative roads for people, especially in West Java and southern side of Jakarta to go to the Soekarno Hatta International airport.

These toll roads will improve people’s mobility, reduce traffic congestion in Jakarta, improve commuter’s mobility, both in Jakarta and its buffer cities, and also facilitate a smooth goods distribution to various areas so that the travel time can be reduced and of course can lower the logistics costs.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

These toll roads do not only connect the regions but also can increase regional competitiveness, rebuild economy in the region, boost the development of new economic centers, and develop productive economic growth.

I order the Regional Government to make this infrastructure as one of regional advantages and as an important capital to attract investment. More investments mean more new businesses to be developed and it will also create more jobs.

Last but not least, concerning yesterday afternoon’s terrorist attack at the Police Headquarters. I call on the people of Indonesia to stay calm but also be aware and keep maintaining our unity. We are all united against terrorism.

I also have ordered Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), and Chief of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to raise awareness. I underline once again, there is no place for terrorism in Indonesia.

That concludes my speech.
