Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Inauguration of the FIFA Jakarta Office, DKI Jakarta Province, November 10, 2023

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

President of FIFA, Mr. Gianni Infantino, and all FIFA Delegates,

Ministers, Governor of the Special Region of Jakarta,

Chairperson of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Bapak Erick Thohir, and all ranks of management,

Football Enthusiasts,

Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,

At first, I would like to welcome President of FIFA, Mr. Gianni Infantino, and delegates back to Jakarta. In this opportunity, I would like to convey my gratitude to FIFA for the trust, commitment, and support to Indonesian football. I would also like to thank FIFA for the construction of the training center in Nusantara capital as well as the opening of FIFA Office in Jakarta. The FIFA decision to establish the Asia-hub permanent office in Jakarta has shown that Indonesia has big potential to advance its football development at the global level.

We would like to reiterate our commitment for supporting and facilitating FIFA to improve integrity and quality of Indonesian football. We are ready to work together in developing adequate sports infrastructures as well as training, educating, and improving Indonesian young footballers. We will also facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between Indonesia and the world football community.

I hope the opening of FIFA Office in Jakarta becomes the initial step to realize brilliant achievements for Indonesian football, improve the quality of competition throughout Indonesia, and inspire young generation to pursue their dreams, strengthen sportsmanship, and unite the world.

Once again, thank you President Gianni for your contribution in the development of Indonesian football. And, thank you for your trust in Indonesia as a host of the Under-17 (U17) World Cup and hopefully this can be a good starting point for more FIFA events in Indonesia.

That concludes my remarks, and by saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I hereby inaugurate FIFA Office in Jakarta.
