Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Inauguration of the Marina-Labuan Bajo Area Arrangement and Warloka Waste Management System, in the Marina-Labuan Bajo Area, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, July 21, 2022

Distinguished Ministers of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet, Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and spouse, Regent of West Manggarai and all Regents in attendance;
Ladies and Gentlemen, Esteemed Guests, the people of Labuan Bajo-West Manggarai that I love and I am proud of.

I have not heard anyone.

Now I heard you.

I have been noticing a radical transformation in the faces of NTT, West Manggarai, and Labuan Bajo from morning till evening. This morning, we have officially inaugurated the airport expansion, Komodo Airport. Then, in the afternoon we have inaugurated the arrangement of Rinca Island area, and this evening we have seen the arrangement of the Marina-Labuan Bajo area.

I’d like to ask, how did it [the area] change? Does it become more beautiful or uglier? Let me remind you all to pay attention to small matters since the area is now more stunning.

First, be friendly to tourists. This is very important, right? Second, do not litter since Labuan Bajo is now cleaner and stunning. There should be community work every month so this area will be well-maintained and becomes more stunning by the day. We still have to build roads and expand the existing roads. The ultimate goal of arranging all existing areas is to improve the people’s welfare in NTT, especially in West Manggarai and Labuan Bajo.

We certainly see a transformation in Marina-Labuan Bajo. I remember visiting this place in 2015. This was just an old port area back then. It was dirty and untidy, wasn’t it? Now, the port has been relocated about 15 kilometers away from here and we have seen together the results of the arrangements here tonight. This area can be used for activities, cultural arts activities, and performing arts, which will lure more tourists to come to Labuan Bajo.

By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, by the grace of God Almighty, tonight I hereby inaugurate the arrangement of the Marina-Labuan Bajo area and the Warloka waste management.
