Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Inauguration of the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction of Sis Al-Jufri Airport and Several other Airports, Palu, Central Sulawesi Province, March 26, 2024

Good afternoon,
Peace be upon us all.
Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen,
We know Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Airport suffered severe damage from an earthquake in Palu several years ago. The runway and terminal were damaged. So, we rehabilitated and reconstructed it and three other airports in Central and North Sulawesi.
We felt that the existence of an airport was extremely crucial when an earthquake occurred for the mobility of passengers and logistics, which at the time was disrupted. So, I remember that we could not even send aid because the airport could not be used.
This afternoon, alhmadulillah, after reconstruction and rehabilitation, we will inaugurate Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Airport in Palu city, Central Sulawesi province, with an enormous budget of Rp567 billion. It has a runway length of 2,510 meters and a width of 45 meters. With such an area, Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Airport can accommodate narrow-body aircraft. Therefore, it will expedite the mobility of passengers and goods from and to Central Sulawesi.
In addition to inaugurating Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Airport, we will also inaugurate Banggai Laut Airport, valued at Rp276 billion in Banggai Laut Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, Bolaang Mongondow, worth Rp391 billion in Boolang Regency, and Taman Bung Karno Airport, costing Rp599 billion, in Sitaro Regency, North Sulawesi Province. I have checked the interior and the architecture inside, and everything has changed; it has become more beautiful and better. It is now ready for use.
That concludes my remarks on this good opportunity. And, by saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, this afternoon, I inaugurate the rehabilitation, reconstruction, and construction of Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Airport and Banggai Laut Airport in Central Sulawesi Province, then Taman Bung Karno Airport and Bolaang Mongondow Airport in North Sulawesi Province.
