Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the National Prayer, Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, August 1, 2024
Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, Alhamdulillahirabbil ‘alamin, washalatu wassalamu ‘ala asrafil ambiya’i wal mursalin, sayyidina wa habibina wa syafiina wa maulana Muhammadin, wa ‘ala alihi washahbihi ajma’in. Amma ba’du. [This is an introduction of remarks in Islamic fashion]
Distinguished Vice President;
Distinguished Cabinet Ministers, Commander of the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI), Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri);
Distinguished Ulemas, Kiai, Nyai, Habaib, all participants, and my fellow citizens from Sabang to Merauke.
Alhamdulillahirabbil‘alamin. Let us extend our praise and gratitude to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala for all His protection and grace for Indonesia, so that we can overcome various challenges, including global crises, geopolitical uncertainty, and climate change.
Various forms of crises and new challenges will emerge in years to come. To that end, as a nation we must always unite, support each other, and pray for each other for our nation and for the progress of our beloved country Indonesia.
Mr Vice President, Ladies and Gentlemen, my fellow citizens.
On this auspicious occasion, on the first day of the month of independence, in the month of August, with utmost sincerity, let me and Professor KH. Ma’ruf Amin extend our sincere apology for any mistakes we made as the President of the Republic of Indonesia and as the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.
We are aware that as human being, it is impossible for us to please everyone. It is also impossible for us to meet everyone’s expectations. I am not perfect, I am just an ordinary human being. Perfection belongs to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. All the kingdoms of heaven and earth, everything belongs to Allah. He is the Almighty God.
Finally, I invite all of us to pray together, asking for help from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, so that Indonesia will become an advanced nation, with blessing from the Almighty God (baldatun thayyibatun wa rabbun ghafur). May Allah always answer our prayer. Aamiin ya Rabbal Alamin.
I thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
