Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Opening Ceremony of the 26th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, September 6, 2023
Your Majesty, Your Excellencies Leaders of the ASEAN Plus Three,
For more than two decades, ASEAN Plus Three has yielded a lot of results and become the driver of growth in the region. However, we shall never be complacent. We have to open and create new opportunities to cooperate, in which green economic development becomes one of the future priorities.
ASEAN greatly appreciates the support of the PRC, Japan and the Republic of Korea for the development of the EV battery ecosystem and the ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum. These are important for the progress and growth of the region.
However, this goal will definitely be disrupted if we cannot maintain peace and stability in the region. Therefore, I urge all of us to have the same feelings, to have the same awareness, to work together to maintain peace and stability in the region by continuing to respect the international law.
That’s all from me. I hereby declare the 26th ASEAN Plus Three Summit open.
Next, I would like to invite Your Excellency Yoon Suk-yeol, President of the Republic of Korea, as Plus Three coordinator to deliver an opening speech.
